I'm sure it probably gets sold and will disappear into some Emirati collection but it would be amazing if that 2499 went on display either at the Patek museum or, more fittingly, at Tiffany in New York.
It felt like Tania Edwards basically tied herself in a knot to avoid giving an opinion on the Cubitus. Guess she knows on which side her bread’s buttered. I get it but to suggest PP has been slaving over the new release design for “many years” seems pretty laughable.
ha, i actually don't begrudge her response, but had to push her a little. she's followed Patek as closely as anyone for 30+ years and i can imagine she didn't want to add to the noise. "i haven't seen the watch so can't comment" can feel like a bit of a cop-out, but it feels more genuine coming from her.
I tight you did well too. Not only did you ask but you tried again. To do more would have been rude but it didn’t feel like you were totally letting her off the hook either. Hopefully your Substack paid subscriptions will reward this fair but thorough approach.
Unrelated: Your interview with Pierre Biver is the first time I felt like he might not be a complete nepobaby. Thank you. I mean, he’s still a nepovaby but he didn’t seem to be completely unversed in what they’re doing either.
I hope Yuko Ono passes it down to her son or this timepiece goes into a museum.
Thank you, Tony. I’ve enjoyed you at Hodinkee. I really love the writing content that you bring to watch enthusiasts like myself.
too kind, thanks for following here. more to come!
I went from not caring about Lennon’s watch to completely captivated. I can’t wait for its next chapter haha
haha glad to hear it!

i do hope we get the chance to see it on public display at some point.
Thanks for the highlight on the 565, a model I’ve never paid much attention to. My commute is much more fun with your newsletter
thanks arwind! 🐢🐢🐢
I wonder how the Di Simones responded after the court ruling..."Ono! We lost the case!"
need somebody...help...not just anybody...help
Tony, simply an outstanding and comprehensive article, I completely enjoy your approach to the work, well done sir! Looking forward to future efforts.
thanks for reading! there was a lot to unpack this week :)
I'm enjoying your insight into watches of which I know little... keep writing...
thanks! yes, a lot more to come.
If that 2499 ever comes to auction, would be an incredible thing to watch.
I hope we get the chance to see it sometime, if not at auction, then an exhibit
