Found: World Series winner Howie Kendrick's Tudor Submariner for sale
Your chance to own a vintage Tudor from a Talking Watches vet and World Series champ
In his 2016 episode of Talking Watches, Howie Kendrick shows off a collection of vintage watches, expressing his love for old things. He pulls out a handful of vintage Rolex, Breitling, and other sports watches, all displaying a unique aging or patina.
Among the bunch is a Tudor Submariner ref. 7928 with a ton of patina on the dial. Howie puts his attraction to the watch quite simply, saying: “It doesn’t disappoint wearing it. Just a clean watch that I wear quite a bit.”
Since 2016, Howie’s made even more of a name for himself in baseball, winning a World Series in 2019 with the Dodgers. In the NLCS, he even hit a grand-slam walk-off homer in the 10th inning of game 5 to lift his Dodgers over the Nationals, before they eventually went on to beat the Astros in the World Series.
Well, now’s your chance to own a watch from the collection of a noted vintage collector who also happens to have a World Series ring.
Hollywood dealer Wanna Buy A Watch has listed Howie’s Tudor Submariner ref. 7928 for sale.
This particular Tudor Submariner looks like an honest example with a thick case and chamfers. Its aesthetic is dominated by the dial, and it’s definitely for someone who prefers patina, not perfection. The lume plots and hands have some flaking and discoloration throughout, but it looks to be even across the entire dial. Besides, you buy a vintage watch for its character and story, right?
We’ve talked to Ken Jacobs of Wanna Buy A Watch? before, who’s also expressed his love for beat-up watches, so it’s fitting WBAW would be the retailer to list this watch for sale.
By the way, before I ever think about pulling the trigger on a vintage Tudor Sub, I always reference the site TudorSub.com, a great resource for all vintage Sub references.
Check out the full listing for Howie’s Tudor Submariner on WBAW?, where it’s for sale at $12,500.
